What the vendor says

Anthropic’s computer-use tool docs say Claude can take screenshots and control mouse and keyboard. The page calls it a beta that needs a beta header: computer-use-2025-11-24 for Claude Opus 4.5, and computer-use-2025-01-24 for other listed models. Anthropic’s 22 Oct 2024 announcement (still the public-beta origin) said developers could direct Claude to look at a screen, move a cursor, click, and type, on the Anthropic API, Amazon Bedrock, and Google Cloud Vertex AI. That API tool is not the same surface as the 2026 Claude Desktop / Cowork “enable computer use” feature discussed on Reddit.

No first-party Product Hunt product for Anthropic’s computer-use API turned up. “Open Computer Use” and “Agent Interface” on Product Hunt are other projects. Do not merge them.

Search hits on 2026-09-22 are mostly the later desktop feature, not a review of the API tool. r/ClaudeAI 13 Sep 2026 says running “Enable Computer Use” on a second device changed the author’s workflow and that handing over the main machine felt uncomfortable — a user report about desktop computer use. r/ClaudeAI 2 Sep 2026 describes background computer use in Cowork and Claude Code. r/Anthropic 23 Aug 2026 claims ChatGPT computer use beat Claude in the author’s own A/B of about 20 daily tasks — one user’s comparison, not a published benchmark.
